I always hated it when I let my parents down. I never wanted to disappoint them. Their approval of whatever I was doing was so crucial to my self-esteem. In a lot of ways, I am still that way today. Now though, more than ever, I want to be pleasing to my Heavenly Father. With that in mind, the Lord led me to a particular verse a couple of weeks ago that made the concept of pleasing Him much easier for me to understand. Here is my verse for February...
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. -Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)
Wow! Without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God. Faith that promises that all the days of my life are in His hands. Faith that promises me that He will never leave me or forsake me. Faith that promises His love for me - so much as to send His only Son and have Him sacrificed for my behalf. Faith that promises that because I choose to believe in Him, then one day I will meet Him face-to-face and be given the privilege of spending eternity with Him.
Well, if that's true and I believe that it is...then, I'M IN! Even on days where my faith resembles the size of a mustard seed.
Lord, we are your's. We believe in You. We place our trust in You. We have faith that You are going to do what You have promised (Romans 4:20-21). Finish what You started in us, God. Your love is eternal. Don't quit on us now. (Psalm 138:7-8)
